About Erick Niyitanga

Coach Erick Niyitanga has been with Azomco since the very beginning, starting as an Assistant Coach on our inaugural team and steadily rising through the ranks. Originally from Kayonza, Rwanda, Erick discovered his passion for basketball at a young age. A FIBA-certified coach, his career has been advancing rapidly—shaped by experiences at the BAL Coaching Clinic, Giants of Africa, and most recently, the Basketball Without Borders Camp, where he’s learned from world-class coaches. Beyond Azomco, he continues to make an impact in his community as the Youth Program Director at Kimisagara Youth Center.

Corey Gaines

About Corey Gaines

Coach Corey Gaines is an accomplished basketball coach who adds a wealth of experience to our staff. Originally from Georgia, USA, he enjoyed a professional playing career and brings over 15 years of expertise in youth development through sport and education. At Azomco, he leads our Player Development program, where his advanced England Basketball coaching qualifications help him blend on-court strategy with off-court mentorship. His approach empowers young athletes to reach elite levels while fostering inclusion, discipline, and community engagement. True to his motto: “No Excuses, Only Results.”

About Wade Abergut

Hailing from the basketball-rich region of Juba, South Sudan, Coach Wade is a seasoned Player Development Coach with a deep-rooted passion for the game. He has gained a wealth of experience as a player, and has become a beacon of inspiration and guidance for Azomco athletes.

Wade possesses an innate ability to spot and nurture raw talent, making him an instrumental figure in identifying and developing the next generation of basketball stars. Wade's influence extends far beyond the game itself, his dedication to fostering personal growth and character development among our players sets a standard of excellence that inspires us all.

Sacré Rwigema
Technical Director

About Sacré Rwigema

Sacré Rwigema is passionate about using basketball for social change. Sacre has coached all levels (high school, university and professional), he has strong organizational skills which helps make him a strong leader. Coach Sacre is always seeking new opportunities to learn, in 2017 he completed his WABC Level 1 training and more recently attended 2022 BAL and 2022 Rico Hines coaching clinics. Coach Sacre a native of Nyamata, is fluent in Kinyarwanda (mother tongue), English, French and Swahili.
